Organic Cotton vs. Conventional Cotton

It is well known that organic cotton has characteristics of sustainability and respect for the environment. However, do we have real knowledge about the differences between organic and conventional cotton?

We tell you why at FIKA we are committed to organic cotton :

Less soil deterioration

It is grown without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers and genetically modified seeds. When kept in good condition, soils act as a natural carbon reservoir, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Less water usage

Less water is required in the production of organic cotton, saving almost 2,000 liters of water per ton compared to traditional cotton. Furthermore, due to the absence of toxic products, local water sources are not contaminated.

Better production techniques

Techniques such as crop rotation and natural composting are used to avoid negative impacts on the environment that promote soil health, biodiversity and respect the natural rhythm of the earth without straining it.

At FIKA, we use organic cotton in the manufacturing of our products because it provides softness and is made to last. That is why our fibers are eco-friendly and we seek to be a sustainable alternative to the traditional.
